Illinois town rankles pols with tax-collection refusal

Nevada police on record-setting shooting pace

"Police officers in Southern Nevada have shot and killed five
people since Jan. 1, putting local police agencies on pace to
exceed the nine fatal officer-involved shootings last year and the
record-setting 10 fatalities in 2002. There have been seven
officer-involved shootings altogether this year, but weapon-
