UK: Help is a four-letter word"Customers who rang the helpline of one of Britain's biggest cable television companies were shocked to be told to 'f--- off.' But Ashley Gibbins, who recorded the tirade in revenge for being put on hold for an hour, walked free from court this week after magistrates decided that the message, although offensive, did not reach the 'grossly offensive' standard for prosecution. Mr Gibbins discovered by chance that he could change the recorded message on NTL's customer service line. The polite request to hold was changed to: 'Hello, you're through to NTL customer services. We don't give a f--- about you, basically, and we are not going to handle any of your complaints. Just f--- off and leave us alone.'" Canada: Guns seized from collector's home"Winnipeg seized more than 80 guns from a home in the Wolseley area of Winnipeg Thursday evening. Police seized 35 long guns and 49 handguns from a residence on Dominion Street around 8 p.m. Thursday. Patrol Sgt. Shelly Glover says none of the weapons was connected to any crimes, and stresses there was never any danger to area residents. The 64-year-old homeowner, who is believed to be a gun collector, faces firearms charges related to improper registration and unsafe storage." Psychological warfare effort to be outsourced"The U.S. Special Operations Command has hired three firms to produce newspaper stories, television broadcasts and Web sites to spread American propaganda overseas. ... the use of contractors in psyops is a new wrinkle. But psychological warfare expert Herb Friedman said he is not surprised. With only one active-duty and two reserve psyops units remaining, Friedman said, 'The bottom line is, they don't have the manpower.'
