Cannes: Standing O for Russo film Free Market News Network
"The controversial film by Aaron Russo, 'America: Freedom to Fascism,' received a standing ovation and considerable media buzz, both during and after its presentation at the Cannes Film Festival this week, according to a press release from Russo. The film deals with the history of America, regarding the many governmental organizations and entities that have abridged the freedoms of U.S. citizens. Using interviews with U.S. Congressmen, the former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents, tax attorneys and authors. Russo 'proves conclusively that there is no law requiring citizens to pay a direct tax on their labor. His film connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, voter fraud, the national identity card ... and the implementation of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to track citizens.' During the Cannes showing, actor Nick Nolte joined Russo and strongly endorsed the film, stating that, 'The information in this film is something everybody has to know.' Nolte was the lead actor in 'Teachers,' a film Russo produced. The film has already been previewed in over twenty-five cities, reportedly to sold out audiences and standing ovations. ... It is scheduled to open across America on July 28." (05/26/06) http://fmnn.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=13811 Wednesday, May 24, 2006Ahmadinejad's love of soccer worries World Cup host
CA: $750,000 for women boss screamed atSan Francisco Chronicle
"Three women who were screamed at by their boss were awarded $750,000 in a settlement announced Monday in San Francisco. The women, all employees of the National Education Association in Alaska, complained in a sexual discrimination lawsuit in 2001 that they had been abused, berated and spit upon by their boss, the interim assistant executive director of the office, the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said. The complaint, filed by Carol Christopher, Carmela Chamara and Julie Bhend, was originally rejected by a federal judge because the abusive behavior by the women's boss, Thomas Harvey, was not sexual in nature and thus not sexual harassment. The complaint was reinstated by an appeals court that ruled abusive sexual discrimination does not have to be motivated by lust or misogyny." But the possibility of Iran's president making a surprise appearance at next month's World Cup soccer championship is giving the country's leadership a collective case of angst. The prospect of such a visit started to emerge last month after Mahmoud Ahmadinejad -- the world's best-known Holocaust-denier, despiser of Israel, and alleged wannabe wielder of nuclear arms -- expressed his passionate love for soccer. Iran's national team is one of 32 that have qualified for the championship, and it will play its first game at Nuremberg. Suddenly, it seems possible that Ahmadinejad and his entourage might show up to cheerIranian players in a city where Adolf Hitler set the stage for the Holocaust with massive Nazi rallies and passage of the Nuremberg laws, which stripped citizenship from German Jews." I KEEP THINKING OF ZECHARIAH'S PROPHECY AND IRAN AND NUKES
I will make Jerusalem and Judah like an intoxicating drink to all the nearby nations that send their armies to besiege Jerusalem. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone, a burden for the world. None of the nations who try to lift it will escape unscathed. And the LORD will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will shrivel in their sockets, and their tongues will decay in their mouths. Monday, May 01, 2006MORE
US drug thugs "cautious" on Mexico decriminalization Fox News
"The United States reacted cautiously on Saturday to a Mexican measure that would make it legal to carry small amounts of cocaine, heroin and other drugs for personal use. ... President Vicente Fox has yet to sign the bill, which would eliminate penalties for those caught with small amounts of some drugs, but his office has applauded it. Mexican lawmakers have said the bill will let authorities focus on major drug traffickers and not clutter prisons with small-time offenders. U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Judith Bryan said Saturday the measure could actually make it easier to prosecute drug crimes because it attempts to 'precisely specify the amount of narcotics in possession of a suspect to allow a criminal prosecution."(04/30/06) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,193702,00.html NV: Man fined for killing trees on his own property Las Vegas Sun "A California business executive has agreed to pay a $50,000 fine for poisoning trees to enhance the view from his Lake Tahoe home. John Fitzhenry apologized Wednesday to officials with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. 'This has been the most foolish thing I've ever done,' he said. Agency staff discovered last summer that Fitzhenry poisoned three, 40-foot Jeffrey pines on his $2.4 million property in Dollar Point on Tahoe's north shore. Inspectors noticed the trees were ailing while responding to the Silicon Valley executive's request for approval to cut them down. Officials said Fitzhenry, vice president of human resources for San Jose, Calif.,-based computer chip maker Altera Corp., drilled holes in the base of the trees and applied a herbicide. In February, TRPA staff had proposed a $17,000 fine. But environmentalists and agency governors called that amount paltry, saying it would do little to deter wealthy Tahoe homeowners from similar actions to boost the value of their property."
