House continues war on patients--Washington Post

"The House on Wednesday voted to continue to allow federal prosecutionof those who smoke marijuana for medical purposes in states with laws that permit it. A year ago, the Supreme Court ruled that the federal government can prosecute medical marijuana users, even when state laws allow doctor-prescribed use of the drug. By a 259-163 vote, the House again turned down an amendment that would have blocked the Justice Department from prosecuting people in the 11 states with such medical marijuana laws." (06/28/06)

Israel kidnaps Arab pols; terrorists murder hostage--Porterville Recorder

"Israeli forces arrested one-third of the Hamas-led Palestinian Cabinet and 20 lawmakers early Thursday and pressed their incursion into Gaza, responding to the abduction of one of its soldiers. Israeli warplanes also buzzed the summer home of Syria's president, accused byIsrael of harboring the hard-line Hamas leaders it blames for masterminding the kidnapping. ... a Palestinian militant group said it killed an 18-year-old Jewish settler kidnapped in the West Bank. Israeli security officials said Eliahu Asheri's body was found buried near Ramallah. They said he was shot in the head, apparently soon after he was abducted on Sunday. Army Radio said the arrested Hamas leaders might be used to trade for the captured soldier. Israel had refused earlier to trade prisoners for the soldier's release." (06/29/06)

So strange, we roll our eyes at the paranoids, but time and again, their paranoia turns out to be prescient. 'They' (you know, those mysterious people who control the world) really were planning to implant tracking chips in human beings. 'They' really did use black (that is dark, unmarked) helicopters. 'They' really were scooping up all our phone calls and emails. There really was -- and is -- a creepy, secretive government agency called FinCEN, spying on our financial doings. 'They' really do run secret courts that issue secret warrants -- that is, when they don't just feel like snooping or locking people up without all that fuss. There really are 'security' agencies we've never heard of -- until we hear of them. At which point, after a brief flurry of concern, they become just another part of our reality. And now, there really are internment camps being built in the U.S. to house masses of people without due process. Remember how we laughed at those funny old paranoids over that claim. Hahahahaha.
